Screw it.

Emmasworld is now titled Welcome To Cartoonia.

The short answer? 'Emmasworld' made it seem like I was just rippping off Eddsworld. Also implied that a girl was working on the series (guess what I am not?)

The long answer? ...Well, that's gonna be a massive wall of text, but why not?
Okay, so...
I've been, for a while now, deciding on whether to keep the name of this series as 'Emmasworld' and just going with it despite how generic that is (and how Eddsworld did that title better) or changing it to 'Welcome To Cartoonia', even though I wanted "Cartoonia" being the name of where the show takes place in to be some surprise reveal. Which is funny, considering I'd already changed the blog URL to that some time ago. Although, nobody really looks at this blog besides my mum anyways, and she forgets pretty much anything you tell her within a week anyways (hell, I have to keep reminding her which character is which, and she still doesn't get it.) so it still could have been a little bit of a surprise.
Also, as stated in the short answer, 'Emmasworld' felt like a ripoff of Eddsworld, and ever since I changed Emma from "look, it me" into a demon catgirl with wings who [okay, yeah, this is actually spoilers. like, stuff you couldn't figure out with an Eddsworld AU.], Sarah from "hehe, girl tom" into a scientist who actually has pupils (although, they're grey, so does it really count as eyes?), Mary from "hey look, square chin, and a weird fashion choice, like Matt!" to "she likes spiders, her design is pointy because haha square head, she's innocent and pure but also kinda a jerk", Eliza from liking Pepsi Pipse and that's her whole personality to "consistently scared" to "a jerk but only because she's trying to get her friends to not go on dumb adventures", and Aria and Silver from "discount gender-swapped Paul and Patryck" to "gorls. with personalities. also they are [spoiler, as long as you don't know what AU this whole thing is totally ripped from, but maybe I'll just keep the general concept from there and totally change how it happens and why it happens and stuff because I think Legacy!Eddsworld sucked ass]" it was... not a very good look to imply all of this was just a ripoff of Eddsworld, no matter how many jokes I made about it being that, and no matter how much it started off as one.
And then... there's me figuring out I'm a dude. I'm not gonna go too much into detail about it, besides the fact that I changed Emma's fucking species, gave her magic powers (which are probably overpowered but there's gonna be plots based around that and shit, I swear), exaggerated the hell out of her hairstyle. and totally changed her personality so I could distance myself from the character before I even decided on my name being Lance. Also calling it 'Emmasworld' each fucking time I talked about the series made me feel like shit.
Now, elaborating on the 'emmasworld is generic as hell' thing... Emma is one of the most common female baby names in the US. Plus there were a few different popular channels called Emma's World and Emmas World and Emma World and shit, plus someone who is likely a child made a YouTube channel based entirely around switching the Eddsworld cast with herself and I guess her friends? But then the Eddsworld characters were also in it? It's confusing as hell, and like I said, probably made by a child. And after multiple googles for "cartoonia" and related things involving it, I found nothing of the sort, meaning that Welcome To Cartoonia (and just Cartoonia in general) was the most creative thing about the series.
Also, anything with the title of [name]sworld or [name]'s world or any variation (sorry Eddsworld) is, in my opinion, really dumb and cheesy and just... eugh. I mean, I fuckin' love Eddsworld, but it could have been titled better. But the title of something I like is not something I can change. The title of my own thing, however, is something I can change.

So there you have it. The reason why I changed it to Welcome To Cartoonia.
Like the name change, hate the name change, I don't give a fuck.

Well, anyways, that's pretty much all I've got for now.
See ya in the next post! (But nobody checks this blog anyways so what's the point of even posting here?)
Bye for now!

It is... a post!

Fuck yea the blog still exists!

There is a "finished" version but my favourite is this version w/out the edges of Emma, Aria, and Silver blurred so it counts as the finished thing.
Aaaand... this was an excuse to draw Aria and Silver.

God, Silver's hair is a nightmare to shade. Fun as hell to draw though.

Not really much to say here except I kinda wanna make this, like, a poster. Like, you buy it and put it on your wall.
But at the same time, who the hell would ever want a poster of Emmasworld? Fuck, I don't think anyone actually looks at this blog anymore, but ya know.

Blur version:

TL;DR: It looks fucking weird w/ the blur.
I tried to make it look like those images. Y'know, all fancy, lens blur on the background that somewhat blurs into the very edges of whatever's in focus.

...

...

I failed.

Extra thing:
this literally only exists because i finished the Emma at the bottom of the image first.
...I just realized something.

If you know anything, and I mean anything at all about Eddsworld and the ending episode (titled 'The End'. really fuckin' clever, guys.) and the whole RedLeader/Future!Tord thing, me replacing the details of how literally anything is planned to happen later in the series with "[spoiler]" is totally useless since it's very obvious where I got the whole "one half is fucked up also robot arm" thing from.
Also the whole Emma being [spoilers. if I actually mention it then it no longer just looks like weird outfits to anyone who has no clue what I'm talking about.] thing, ah... that was blatant plagiarism on my end from RedLeader/Future!Tord art.

So... I might actually wind up entirely changing the whole later half of the series, maybe keeping little bits and pieces from the original plot, and... y'know. Changing the design here as well a little bit, though I do kinda like the whole "oh look, that ear is ripped off there in the normal version, and- it's foreshadowing to this." thing in this design. Though, that was already kinda done with Tord in The End (where he was entirely out of character but I'll probably make a separate post about how much I dislike Legacy later) with the whole "Tord's got a little patch thing on his face, and- oh. it's on the same side that gets blown up in the robot explosion." (again, really fucking clever.)

So who knows. Maybe it'll stay the same, mostly because this is a really cool design and it's fun to draw the outfit, the arm, the larger wings, and the whole half-long half-short hair thing, but maybe it'll change so that it's not a total ripoff of Eddsworld.
Hell, I've thought of changing the name from Emmasworld to... various things, but none of them sounded good. I mean, I could go with "Welcome To Cartoonia", but A. that's dumb and cheesy, & B. that's already the blog name.
I mean, like, fair to the second point, though, I wanted to name the blog "Emmasworld", same thing as the (current) series name, but that was already taken (and I actually have a post somewhere from close to the beginning of this blog about that.)

The sketch:

those wings were hell to sketch. also, i forgot to add the fucking back bit of hair in the top bit.
Not much to say here. It's a sketch. It became an image. If you look close enough at the middle you can see some stuff that I squiggled over because I didn't like how it turned out when I was done sketching it. It has colours. A lot of them.

It also sucks, mostly because it is a sketch, and so, it's like, not finished.

I don't show sketches very often... at least, I'm pretty sure I don't. (I'm probably totally wrong, but I'm not one of those people who memorizes each post they put on their blog.)
So I decided "Hey. Why not show the sketch?".
It looks like suck compared to the final image.

Well, anyways, that's all for now.
See ya in the next post... if I remember to do one!
Bye for now!

Mostly filler.

Okay, so... right off the bat, the warning here is not filler, as in my opinion, this is a rather large problem, because the software I was using since... pretty much the beginning of my YouTube channel... is VideoPad, which is made for editing videos. It has some simple audio-related functions within, but for the most part, I didn't expect so many popups when I attempted to open specific file types.

Anyways...

Be wary as fuck about anything NCH Software related.
I don't know if anyone knows this, hell, at first I didn't know this, and I assumed it to be a glitch, but part of NCH Software's whole thing is setting whatever program as the default for totally unrelated filetypes. VideoPad being the default for .7z and .swf despite me already owning programs that open those files, as an example.
It also adds deceptive Context Menu/Right-Click Menu options for certain files, like .wav, .ogg, and .mp3, where it has a button that says "Edit audio file", which you would expect to open your audio editor, but it pops up a message about installing WavePad.
It makes VideoPad (along with WavePad, Express Zip, Prism, and all the others) feel like horrifically intrusive adware.
Their software is really easy to use, not much of a learning curve as, say, After Effects or Premiere, but really fucking shady.
If you can, use the "activated software backup" function after activating the software, and just use the installer provided to re-install the software whenever you need to edit a video, rather than just leaving it on your computer.
Run it in a Virtual Machine if you have the disk space required for a VM.

Either way... stay far the fuck away from VideoPad unless you absolutely need to use it and there are no alternatives you can find.

Also, I've been meaning to work on Slime Climb for the longest time, but I haven't the faintest clue as to how I could possibly go about that when A. I still don't have a voice actor for Eliza (though I might just wind up doing her parts myself at this point), B. I haven't compiled all the available voice clips into a singular audio file, and C. Even if the first two things weren't an issue, I still have no fucking clue what to do animation-wise.

...

Do you ever wonder how so many people can pump out so many videos/images daily/weekly when you can't even keep a consistent blog posting schedule, or is that just like, a me thing?

Well... guess that's all I have to say for now.
I'll post again eventually!

Ayyyy

I realize that by posting this it bumps up the post count to 2 and thus the image doesn't make sense, but...

Look at this!

ayyy

Like, moments after that post went up I noticed this.

It says April (1) and it's also April 1st!

 Also...

you can't spell "shadow the hedgehog" without "ow the edge"
Was editing in Krita, noticed that the selection layer preview looked like this (I can't remember why I selected around everything.) Obviously, the black and white were reversed and Solrike wasn't highlighted in red, originally. But I popped that fucker into MS Paint after grabbing the screenshot and just sorta... went absolutely wild.

...

man, some of these posts are lame, useless filler.
just like Eddsworld Legacy!

Another image that's not April Fools-ing but is posted on/near April Fools

It's got Solrike and Stjerne.

forests are fun to draw
Okay, literally, before I merged all the layers of this image, my computer started to overheat so hard I was afraid it was going to catch on fire.
There were around 31, maybe 32 layers total before merging.

I really wanted to do a bit more with this image, but.. y'know. Didn't wanna be responsible for my house burning down because of a shitty HP laptop not being able to handle multiple layers in Krita.

Okay, now, lil' bit of info about these characters, because I need somewhere to put it all.
Some of this was probably mentioned in the other post but whatever.

Solrike is the one with the cool-ass hair, Stjerne is the one with the sweater.
Stjerne is a trans man.

So, anyways, the whole thing about Stjerne and his sweaters is that, well...
(Warning: a ton of text incoming.)

When Stjerne was a young child, and also when he was a teenager, he was really worried about when his boobs would finally come in, so he often wore oversized sweaters.

At some point, everyone just accepted that Stjerne liked sweaters.

And a little while after that, sweaters became sort of a comfort item for Stjerne.

(Ton of text is now over! You may resume reading!)

Also, I have just now realized how much Stjerne looks like me. (He's even a trans man who likes sweaters!)
totally wasn't intentional

Anyways, yeah
That's all for now!
See you in the next post... whenever that is.
Bye for now!
